“Do you buy stock from customers?”

… Is a question we get asked very often.

The Answer is…

Yes, Sometimes

Our in store buying policy

Due to the extremely high volume of customers bringing items into the shop and contacting us regarding selling, I have updated our buying policy. Even though this isn’t the main way we source our stock, we’re always on the lookout for unique vintage gems, so if you’re clearing out, do keep us in mind but please read the following info before getting in touch:

  • We only buy vintage items, this means your piece(s) must be 20+ years old. We are a vintage shop, and ensuring that the items we stock are genuinely vintage is vital for upholding our reputation and integrity.

  • Your items must also be in very good or excellent condition.

  • We only buy and sell womenswear. We won’t purchase any mens or children’s clothing.

  • We are now exclusively buying for Spring/Summer 2026, so no big coats or boots, etc for now please! We will reopen Autumn/Winter buying late August.

  • To know if we’re interested, we need to see your items first. Please contact us before bringing items into the shop and send some photos via Instagram DM (@loveatfirstsightvintage) or E-mail hello@loveatfirstsightvintage.com. We receive a high volume of messages and emails daily so please be patient, I reply to every single enquiry but sometimes it takes me a few days.

  • If we would like to purchase your item(s), we will make you an offer. If you choose to accept, we buy items outright and our payment method of choice is bank transfer, but we can pay cash if necessary. We do not offer any kind of consignment or percentage service. We are not a dress agency.

  • As a small business we have to prioritise our cash flow and profit margin to survive! We are a competitively priced vintage store, we try to keep our prices as accessible as possible, and this has to be taken into consideration when buying, as each purchase is a risk. So, if our offer is less than you’d expected, there is no obligation to accept, please don't be offended.

  • The standard and uniqueness of our curation is our USP, it’s what people love about our boutique. The buying process is complex, and the value of an item depends on many factors such as condition, age, brand, composition, colour, whether it’s on trend, the success rate of similar items in the past, and generally how well it fits the vibe of our shop. If we already have a lot of similar items in our stock room, this may be a big reason as to why we decline your item(s), no matter how lovely they are!

Thank you for taking the time to read our policy, if you do feel you have some special vintage pieces, or have any further questions, please do get in touch!
