Changes, community & creativity... Let's catch up!

Girls! Let's catch up

Blogs are kind of old fashioned now aren't they? but we all know I love old things. I just wanna chat with you guys, and share lots of Love at First Sight's updates and upcoming plans; I've turned on the comments so that you can respond and get involved. Alternatively, feel free to DM me on instagram!

It's spring, I'm graduating, and it's Love at First Sight's 4th birthday soon, so I'm in the mood for some changes and new inspiration. Shortly, for the first time ever, I'm going to have plenty of time to work on the biz, and I'm so excited to spend this summer in the studio.

New vibe?

I want to plan some campaigns, I love love love styling and the pieces I've got in at the moment have so much potential. I've switched up my sourcing criteria slightly, the demand and trends have changed, my audience is growing up with me, and I needed to upgrade my stock to reflect this. Love at First Sight has definitely outgrown its Y2K era (too much pink, Playboy accessories, low rise everything) and honestly I felt I couldn't fully connect with the product as it didn't resemble my personal style in any way, so... I've been focusing on curating vintage collections that feel more me, and generally just more classic, mature, versatile, and comfortable for a wider audience.

I'm hunting luxurious fabrics like silk, cashmere and mohair, and elevated basics that can be worn everyday. But I'm definitely not leaving out the funky statement pieces, I love bold florals, puff sleeves, bright colours and over-accessorising! I'm sourcing pieces that can be dressed up for nights out but also dressed down for work. Lots of what I'm buying is from the 90s, but I'm heavily influenced by the 60s and 70s. At the minute I've been buying kitten heel sandals for summer, flowy silk midi and maxi skirts, leather baguette bags, bias cut occasion dresses and oversized jackets. Gosh, there's just so much good stuff sat in the studio waiting to be styled, shot, and sold.

I've been observing the latest runways, and I've compiled some of my trend predictions into a sort of trend report (which I could share with you guys if you're interested?), but I'm mostly influenced by my own taste, requests from my friends, and observing strangers' style in the street. I'd love to hear from you guys though, what are you looking for at the moment? who or what is your style inspiration? what's you favourite era? what's missing from your wardrobe?

In the works

Hosting pop ups has been the best way to connect with you guys in person, so I'm currently planning some more of those! I'd love to organise some events over summer with you guys, I know lots of you are doing similar creative things and have your own brands, I just think it'd be wonderful to book out a venue and share it between us for a weekend, and build a close knit community where we can network and make friends. I definitely struggle in Nottingham as it's a small city and there is a lack of opportunity, but why don't we make our own! Please message me if you have any ideas or would be interested in this.

I've been working on my graduation dress edit, more coming on this very very soon, but I've curated the most beautiful edit of dresses (and heels) that are appropriate for graduation. I'm graduating this year and of course will be wearing vintage, and girls on my course kept asking if I had any dresses they could buy for their special day, so I've turned it into an actual project- wait until you see the campaign, it's so cute!

I've been considering offering bespoke style bundles for a while too, where I work with you guys as individual clients and style you in vintage based on your requests. I'd offer different packages so that it would appeal to a range of budgets, what do you think? would you be interested? I would absolutely love to do this.

I had the idea for a sort of brand ambassador scheme also? where you guys receive free clothes in exchange for creative content? that sounds fun doesn't it!

Overall, once I leave uni, I'm going to get back to listing on the website every week, hopefully with themed drops once a fortnight. I always have so many ideas and concepts and I can't wait to execute them all. I wanna create look books and send out newsletters, write more blog posts, have fun photoshoots and make beautiful imagery. Ugh, it's all just so exciting. Once again, If any of you guys are looking for experience or just want to collaborate for fun, feel free to contact me!

This was a lot of rambling wasn't it, but it's been lovely catching up. Please do let me know your thoughts on... well everything.

Talk soon,

love, Lottie xxx
